In honor of my recent bulk seed order for the my much awaited garden - I thought I would do a spring themed mood board, this - makes me so happy. So, I present to you this chipper little ditty brought to you by Cults - appropriately named "Go Outside!" :)
So far, I've ordered veggie seeds for; a lettuce mix, onions, brussels, tomato (heirloom + cherry), pepper, zucchini, carrots, cukes, soy beans, + tomatillos (purple kind!). I may add more..
Much to my dislike; peonies and ranunculus don't really grow well here (so the internet says), if this is wrong and you've had luck - please let me know, I'd love to get some! I held off on ordering those and went with more wild flower seeds; Ivory Castle California Poppies and a Cosmos seed mix. I also added Billy Buttons and Candy Mountain Fox Gloves. I decided that I would buy my herbs from a local stand that I go to every year that has a great variety. I usually get a couple types of mint, graves lavender, basil, rosemary, and thyme. I'd like to add sage, eucalyptus, and catnip this year as well.
My friend Steven told me about a local seed grower from Naples, New York! I bought my lettuce mix, thai basil, and cilantro from her along with a couple of various flower seed mixes. I'm really excited to know of this local find! Please check out Fruition Seeds here and here.
Don't laugh at me but.. I watched a bee documentary on Netflix called More Than Honey the other night and the whole time I was thinking, "I think I'm going to buy some bee frames.. could I bee keep?... just be a little beekeeper?.. just a small one." Would that even be possible? I know it takes a lot of dedicated and arduous work. I have to do some research. Wouldn't that be so cool though? Speaking of bees, I did a photo shoot for a group of awesome urban beekeepers last summer. There's buzz that they (along with my snapshots) will be featured in the spring copy of Finger Lakes magazine. They are awesome! You can check out SweetBeez here and here!
I can't believe it's March already. Time seems to be flying so quickly lately. I'm eager for the Spring, although I know Matt will miss the snow - I'm ready for longer, warmer days.
