A few weeks ago, I met with my sweet friend Emily to do a lifestyle session in her home. When I tell you about this experience I hope I can articulate it in a way that shows you just how much I adore her and her family, in practically every single way.
Emily and Matt's wedding was the first wedding I ever shot. When I first met Emily, it was like meeting an old friend. She was honest, and transparent, loving and fun. When I met Matt, he was truly the perfect life-partner for Emily. Calm and cool, and sweet.
In the interim of meeting their first son, I got to photograph Emily and Matt while her belly was in the shape of a full moon. It was an extra special session, and thinking back about it now I am so thankful that we connected during that time, for both of us. I have this buddy to thank for the title of this post - a statement he proclaimed to me very shortly after he reintroduced himself. "I'm basically the funniest one in my family," and in almost every single shot I took of him that day he was beaming. What a kid!
The story in between the last time we were together and today is full of magic, faith, miracle, perseverance, and of course; love. Emily and Matt have four children now. Three more hearts, three more smiles, six more hands to hold and comfort. These two; with professions in nursing and teaching, have undoubtedly and selflessly altered the course of peoples lives for the better. But I feel most notably, it's the connection they've forged within their own family that is the most moving. The type of kindness and selflessness that (in this case) held the power to rewrite stories and reshape worlds.
Thank you to these sweet loving human-beings for all the work they do in their lives; in their community, and in their home - (and an extra personal thank you for lunch and coffee, and for all the tugs on my heartstrings!!) Until next time. <3
